Many of us take vitamins faith in them to improve their health and protect them from disease. But a new study has found that more than the recommended amount of vitamin pills, may increase the risk of heart disease and cancer.
The goal of dietary supplements is indeed to improve health, but consumption in excess of the recommended daily amount may be counter-effect, experts say.
Dr. Tim Byers Cancer Research Center at Colorado State University said the British The Daily Mail: “We are not sure yet the effects of vitamins on a molecular level, but we have evidence to prove that people who take dietary supplements more than necessary, tend to have a higher risk of developing cancer.”
According to two decades, experts have determined that eating fruits and vegetables lowers the risk of cancer, Dr. Byers has begun to investigate whether taking vitamins and other supplements to further reduce risk.
