The search for Dor Cohen, 23, from Yerushalayim, missing in Georgia, has intensified, with the Harel insurance company search and rescue units joining the rescue efforts begun by local police. Cohen was on a five day trek with a friend, to a town at the foot of Mount Shkhara, the highest point in Georgia. On Wednesday noon, they split up, and planned a rendezvous after ten kilometers, but Dor never arrived. Upon arriving at the nearest village, after a prolonged walk, his friend immediately contacted the Israeli consul in Tblisi and reported Dor as missing. The local police immediately went into the area, with the friend pointing out the planned meeting spot. No clues were found, even after a helicopter joined the search.
Dor’s sister, Shiran Cohen Mizrachi, spoke with INN and described the tribulations the family is enduring, and the rescue measures they have taken. Cohen Mizrachi pleaded with Deputy Foreign Minister Tzippy Hotovely to do everything in her power to bring Dor home safely.
